So Floris Noach was born in 1799 in Driel, and the assumption is that he came to South Africa in the early 1800s, with or without his parents. We do know that on 11 February 1826 he was married to Maria Cornelia Marais, and in 1827 they had their first child, Gerhardus. They went on to have a total of 16 children, who in turn had another 45 children between them (from the male line alone)!
There are numerous records of births taking place around George, Uitenhage, Graaf Reinet, Humansdorp etc during the 19th Century, as the family prospered in South Africa.
The two pages shown here, came from an old yearbook, I think, and show a little of the family history of my direct ascendants. The relevant section starts around two thirds down the first page (486) and continues onto page 487.
Johannes Adam Mey Bellingan was born in Uitenhage on 6th March, 1891. His father was "F.N."Bellingan and we are told he had an elder brother and four younger sisters.
The uncle of this F.N.Bellingan, Philip Bellingan, was Uitenhage representative to the Cape Parliament, and I have been told that this Philip Bellingan was in fact Philippus Salomon Bellingan, one of the sons of Floris Noach-1799 .
